Memory Game
Flip two cards at a time and find every matching pair in as few moves as you can.
Everything runs in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.
About this memory game
The memory game, also called pairs or concentration, tests and trains your short-term memory. All the cards start face down. On each turn you flip two cards. If they show the same picture, they stay face up as a matched pair. If not, they turn back over, and you must remember where they were. The game is won when every pair has been found.
How to play
- Choose a difficulty: Easy (6 pairs), Medium (8 pairs) or Hard (10 pairs).
- Click or tap a card to flip it, then a second card.
- Matching cards stay open. Cards that do not match turn back over after a moment.
- Find every pair. Your number of moves is counted, and your best result for each difficulty is saved.
Tips to improve
- Start by flipping new cards, because a card you have already seen is worth remembering.
- Say the position of each card to yourself, such as “top row, second”, to help it stick.
- Remember cards in groups, such as one row at a time, instead of the whole board at once.
- If you know where one half of a pair is, flip it first so a wrong second guess does not waste your knowledge.
Good to know
Playing memory games regularly is a fun way to practise attention and recall, though it is a game and not a medical or training programme. The cards use fruit pictures, so no language is needed. The game runs entirely in your browser and works on phones, tablets and computers.
Frequently asked questions
What is the goal of the memory game?
Find all the matching pairs of cards in as few moves as possible. One move means flipping two cards, so fewer moves means a better memory.
Are the cards shuffled every time?
Yes. Every new game shuffles the cards randomly, so you cannot learn the layout from one game to the next.
How are the three difficulty levels different?
Easy has 6 pairs (12 cards), Medium has 8 pairs (16 cards) and Hard has 10 pairs (20 cards). More cards mean more to remember.
Is my best score saved?
Yes. Your lowest number of moves is saved separately for each difficulty in your own browser. Clearing browser data removes it.
